Types Of Marine Surveys
Joseph M. Stoltz Pre-Purchase / Condition & Valuation Survey

This is a very comprehensive survey. It should be done before purchase of any used vessel. It encompasses a thorough evaluation of the condition and overall operation of the vessel. The survey includes: Structural integrity assessment, Out of the water inspection, Sea trial (if requested), Electrical, Propulsion, Fuel, Navigation, On board systems and Cosmetic appearance. At the end, a valuation is determined based on the survey and other market factors.

Insurance Survey

A survey conducted to determine if the vessel is an acceptable candidate for fire and marine insurance.

Damage Survey

A comprehensive survey conducted to identify damages to a vessel for the purposes of insurance claims and investigations. This can also be conducted on behalf of a private party.

Buyer's Agent

A survey conducted on behalf of a buyer to assess the initial candidacy of the vessel for purchase - When a serious candidate is identified, a Condition & Valuation Survey should then be conducted.
